Hello Fall - Tips for your Laundry this Season

Summer 2024 has come and gone! For some it came and went way too fast and for others; we were the first ones on line for the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. Whichever one you are, we all know that Fall means Blankets and Sweaters so here are some tips to keep your items clean and cozy this season.

#1 - DO NOT OVERLOAD YOUR WASHERS!

We know the items are bulkier during the colder months, however; the more stuffed your machine is, the less your washer is able to use the agitator to remove dirt. Always leave room in the machine for the items to mover around freely. Pro-tip: if you need a bigger washer, visit us at 4517 Avenue L, Brooklyn NY 11234 to use our commercial-grade large machine.

#2 - HOW TO AVOID SWEATER STATIC!

We all hate that static cling that our sweaters do, especially to our hair. We recommend using dryer sheets during your dry cycle and adding a small amount of fabric softener to your wash cycle. This will result in that extra fabric softness and more static control. Pro-tip: you can use wool balls for natural alternatives if you are moving away from chemicals.

#3 - HOW TO AVOID SWEATERS SHRINKING!

Sweaters are a closet staple during the Fall and we do not want those oversized sweaters to transform into crop tops after the first wash SOO….

  • Turn them INSIDE OUT (before washing)

  • Wash in COLD WATER

  • Dry them on COLD or LOW temperature

Pro-tip: hand wash and air dry those wool and cashmere sweaters if you can, for faster dry; wrap them in a dry towel and squeeze to remove excess water before drying.

#4 - FRESH COZY BLANKETS!

Let the snuggles begin! While our blankets were stored away for the summer, we must now give them a fresh wash and some fresh air to remove any musty odor. For the bigger blankets, you can get them washed with us ranging from $5-$20 depending on the size since we are able to handle the load.

Pro-tip: Schedule your laundry delivery for that blanket

That is all friends, Autumn is the time for us to layer up, snuggle under the cozy fresh smelling blankets we love and enjoying those fall flavors (chai, pumpkin spice, crisp apple… yummm). But by following these laundry tips you will be on track to keeping your sweaters and blankets fresh for the colder months.

At Sunflower Laundromat we are here to help busy professionals remove laundry from their to-do list with our laundry delivery services. Our laundry service gets your items clean the first time, all the time. See you clean freaks in our next blog!
